Over the past couple of years, I’ve posted my favorite gluten and dairy free baking recipes, and here they are today in one roundup, just in time for Christmas!

I love holiday baking!  Scrolling through Pinterest for those super-star mom worthy photos of treats, I work to replicate them as gluten and dairy free.  I have the best critic of all, my kiddos – who are not afraid to say, “Mom, I’m sorry but you are CHOPPED!”

Gluten and dairy free can taste great!

Going gluten and dairy free doesn’t mean giving up on Christmas favorites, nor does it reflect the tasteless treats of yesteryear.  Gluten and dairy free products have come a long way, baby!

I use my own blend of gluten free flour, which is the base of nearly all of my treats.  To me, it’s the one of the most important ingredients to ensure the right texture, taste and smell.

Equally important, are products for substituting dairy, whether milk or butter.  Ice cream, for example, is best used with a full-fat version of a dairy-free milk product, whereas baked goods might be OK with a few tablespoons of a vanilla soy or almond milk.  Find a list of dairy substitutions here.

We stay away from refined sugar and instead, opt for pure cane sugar.  This year, I found 6 lbs. bags at Aldi for less than $4! They are one of my favorite places to shop for gluten and dairy free items (for less!).  Check out my favorite gluten and dairy free finds at Aldi, here.

the different between a celiac diagnosis and gluten sensitivity

It’s important to note that for my daughter, gluten and dairy free is a choice, insomuch that she does not have Celiac disease.  She does, however, have a long history of stomach aches when she eats gluten and dairy, which is the reason she avoids it.   I mention this because for people who have a diagnosis of Celiac disease, it is important to have separate bake ware, bowls, and utensils as not to cross-contaminate with gluten.

If you’re looking to make a gluten and dairy free holiday treat, look no further.  Here are a list of my family’s favorites – links will take you to the recipes.  Remember to always check all ingredients to ensure that they are truly gluten and dairy free.
